How to Create Your Own Sleep Sound Mix
A personal sleep soundscape does not need many layers. Start with one steady base, add one natural texture, and make small adjustments until the mix disappears into the room.

Choose one steady base
Begin with a consistent sound such as brown noise, white noise, ocean wash, or steady rain. Keep the volume comfortable and low enough that it does not become the main event.
Listen for a minute before adding anything else. A simple base may already be enough.
Add one natural texture
If the base feels too plain, layer in a fireplace, forest, wind, or softer rain. The second sound should bring character without competing for attention.
Independent volume controls matter here: a quieter texture often blends more naturally than two equally loud layers.
Test, simplify, and save
Close your eyes and notice whether any sound repeatedly pulls your attention. Lower that layer or remove it. More sounds do not automatically create a more relaxing mix.
When the balance feels easy to ignore, save the personal soundscape and give it a name you will recognize tomorrow.
Finish with a gentle timer
Choose a timer that fits your routine and let the soundscape end automatically. Keep playback at a comfortable level, particularly with headphones.
Sound can support a wind-down routine, but it is not a substitute for medical care when sleep problems persist.
